About MASTA
MASTA is a global advisory service, established in England in 1984 and in 1988 in Australia, New Zealand & Papua New Guinea.
For an annual subscription fee, MASTA provides travel health advice to doctors, pharmacists, pathologists, corporations, government departments and travel agents in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. Currently, over 900 medical centres and 8000 health professionals use the MASTA service in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. This provides up to date travel health advice for travel itineraries anywhere in the world.
All advice, provided to MASTA subscribers, is based on Australian and New Zealand standards and recommendations, set by the Australian National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and the NZ National Health Council (NHC) supplemented by information sourced from respected global organizations including the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Centers for Diseases Control and prevention (CDC). It includes vaccination, seasonal disease and malaria recommendations as well as the latest health news. Also included is the latest travel advisories from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). MASTA maintains a select group of travel health and medical specialists who assess all new information and insure that all information is validated. Advice is maintained and updated regularly, daily when required, for over 265 countries and 84 disease conditions.
Subscribers request information via the MASTA website or by phone, fax or email. A personalised "Traveller Health Brief" which integrates recommendations for up to 10 countries is generated and returned within the same day, or instantly for requests via the website. Only MASTA can provide such an integrated health brief.
Members of the public can also purchase for a fee of $A20 a “Traveller Health Brief” Individual and group travellers can obtain the “Traveller Health Brief by email fax or post. Travellers can also be directed to the nearest MASTA medical clinic for travel vaccinations. MASTA also sells a complete range of travel-related vaccines, pharmaceuticals and retail products. MASTA is currently Australia's largest wholesaler of travel related products that are distributed direct to doctors.
Strong links have been established with all leading pharmaceutical companies and distributors. This enables MASTA to provide a full range of travel medical and health products and also enables MASTA to promote its services to health professionals through the Internet, regular continuing education seminars, and publications such as the MASTA Travel Medicine Newsletter and the commonsense guide to malaria “Taking the Mystery out of Malaria”.
